Sent crypto to the wrong address on HedgerX

A transfer to a wrong address, network or contract usually cannot be recovered. HedgerX says it may try in some cases, at its discretion, for a fee and with a wait of at least a month.

Checked 2026-10-17. Based on six HedgerX help center articles on wrong, expired and contract-address deposits and on missing memos (updated 2025-11-07 and 2025-11-08).

HedgerX states that it is not obliged by law to retrieve mis-sent tokens. Any recovery is a courtesy and carries no guarantee.

What to send to support

Contact customer support and include:

  • Your account ID or UID.
  • The coin you sent, the amount and the transaction hash.
  • The address you sent to and a screenshot of the deposit details.
  • If the coin is not available on HedgerX, an address where it can send any recovered funds.

What HedgerX says recovery involves

  • The work needs staff with high authority and a risk-control review, and HedgerX says it will charge a fee.
  • Some steps may happen only during wallet upgrade and maintenance windows, so recovery can take more than a month, and sometimes longer.
  • HedgerX will help only within a controllable cost, and it says you are unlikely to get the funds back.

Why addresses go wrong

  • A wallet address gets confused with a token contract address. Contract addresses run code and cannot return funds.
  • The address changed. HedgerX may update deposit addresses for security or after blockchain upgrades, and some addresses expire.
  • The network does not match. An ERC-20 token can share a ticker with others, so check the token type too.

Always copy the address from the deposit page, and send a small test first.

Frequently asked questions

Can HedgerX recover funds sent to an expired or old address?

HedgerX says that typically it cannot, and that you bear the loss if you did not verify the address. Another article says HedgerX does not offer recovery for expired addresses.

What about a deposit sent to a contract address?

HedgerX says these funds are usually irretrievable. If the contract belongs to a project team, you can ask that team, though recovery is not guaranteed. HedgerX cannot intervene in contracts that are not its own.

What if the memo or tag was wrong?

HedgerX may credit the funds by hand if it can confirm they are yours. If the address belongs to a hot wallet and the deposit cannot be linked to you, the funds may be unrecoverable.
